Outreach
We will never change the world by going to church. We will only change the world by BEING the church.
Local church outreach is being the hands and feet of Jesus in action, stepping beyond the sanctuary walls to fulfill the divine calling to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Guided by Jesus' mandate in Matthew 5:13–16, we strive to be a servant-hearted congregation that does not hide its faith inside our sanctuary.
Instead, we go out humbly into our community to bring flavor, preservation, and hope to a weary world, letting our good works shine brightly so that others may see them and glorify God. We strive to make it evident that He is the reason for the love and compassion being shown in our acts of service. Our #1 purpose is to point others to Jesus.
At Abundance Life, we believe outreach is one of the signs of a healthy church. We practice embodying the love of Jesus by being physically present in our neighborhoods, reflecting the truth that the Church is a living body, not a static building, and that we are part of the larger church in our community.
-
Radical Hospitality: Striving to let every individual in Nevada County know they are deeply valued and loved by their Creator.
-
Holistic Stewardship: Caring for both the spiritual and practical needs of the community, recognizing that supporting physical health and emotional healing are direct acts of worship .
-
Gospel Presence: Cultivating genuine relationships built on trust and humility, allowing the light of faith to shine naturally through authentic, compassionate service.
-
True Kingdom Impact: Our impact is multiplied when the local church locks arms with specialized ministries, community coalitions, and care facilities already serving our neighbors. By actively praying for, funding, and volunteering with these key organizations, we help sustain vital lifelines of grace. We are actively involved with these organizations and programs:
- LivingWell Medical Clinic: Extending Christ’s compassion to those facing unplanned pregnancies by providing free medical services, confidential consultations, and tangible parental support in a safe environment.
- Interfaith Food Ministries: Dedicated to providing wholesome, supplemental groceries to local families, seniors, and individuals experiencing financial hardship. They accomplish this in part by partnering with local churches.
- Christian Encounter Ministries: Shepherding at-risk youth and young adults onto a path of transformation through a residential discipleship community, integrated schooling, and the restorative love of Jesus. We provide dinner once a month for the students and interns of CEM.
- Women of Worth: A faith-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helping families escape domestic violence and human trafficking.
- Anew Day: Offering a haven for emotional restoration through affordable professional therapy and free lay counseling, meeting hurting individuals and families exactly where they are with hope and healing in Jesus' name.
- Hope for Nevada County: Demonstrating the tangible care of Christ by uniting local churches, businesses, and volunteers to support families. This includes the annual back-to-school outreach providing local students with free backpacks, school supplies, shoes, and haircuts. We are actively involved in this once a year outreach.
- LiNC (Love in Nevada County): Uniting believers from over 20 local congregations to serve as one collective body, mobilizing volunteers to complete practical service projects benefiting local non-profits, schools, and civic municipalities. We actively help organize and financially support these serve days
- Habitat for Humanity: Brings a shared mission of community, hope, and service to life in Grass Valley, California. This collaborative effort is driven by the HomeBuilder Faith Community program—an ecumenical coalition open to all faith traditions dedicated to solving the local housing crisis.
- Senior Living & Care Facility Visitations: Honoring and ministering to the elderly in our community by combating isolation with the life-giving presence of Christ. We actively serve residents through prayer, companionship, Bible studies, communion and pastoral care at local facilites including:
-
Golden Empire Nursing & Rehab Center: Nurturing the social and spiritual well-being of long-term residents and rehab patients, affirming their dignity and value in every season of life.
-
Eskaton Village Grass Valley: Bringing connection and comfort to seniors navigating the unique transitions of aging, independent living, and memory care.
-
Ultimately, outreach is not about executing an isolated program, but about pursuing a divine mandate to love our neighbors as ourselves while sharing Christ's message of hope and grace through our acts of service.
